Kim Tae Pyung (Ok Taec Yeon) has a recurring nightmare. He’s able to see the death of someone by looking in their eyes and he’s warned never to get close to anyone.
Flashback…Tae Pyung looks at a picture of an older woman’s son. She asks when her remaining son will die. Tae Pyung declares he can only see a few moments before her son’s death. The woman surmises her son’s death won’t be a pleasant one.
Tae Pyung’s handlers, Lawyer Lee Yeon Hwa and Teacher Baek, promise they’ll make sure he returns safely when he complains the client was a mob boss’s wife. He knows the son will kidnap him.

As predicted, the son kidnaps him. Tae Pyung explains he only sees moments before the son’s death. A rival gang arrives. Tae Pyung tells the son that his death starts now. Tae Pyung is shot in the chest and falls to the ground. He bemoans the gift of seeing a person’s death.
Flashback…Tae Pyung tells the older woman that her son will die from a heart attack. The woman says since Tae Pyung will be there, he should help her son.
Tae Pyung watches the son, aka the Butcher, fight the gang and kill many. Just as the son is poised to kill the final gang member, Tae Pyung yells that if he kills the man, he’ll have a heart attack and die. He yells at the son to stop. The son doesn’t heed his advice and lets his bloodlust rule. The son clutches his chest and falls to the ground. Tae Pyung lies there knowing his predictions are never wrong. Tae Pyung listen to the police sirens. The police enter and find Tae Pyung. He’s still alive.

Detective Seo Joon Young (Lee Yun Hee) gets a call from Team Leader Han Dong Woo about the gang scene. She’s informed there is a single survivor who has been taken to the hospital. She heads out with officers Joon and Bong.
When they arrive at the hospital, Joon Young strides to the emergency room while Tae Pyung is wheeled away by his handler. The nurse informs her the survivor just left. Joon Young realizes the man on the gurney was the survivor. She gives chase into the parking garage but can’t catch the exiting cars. She calls Officer Joon and tells him to get the parked car and block the parking garage exit. She continues to give chase throughout the process. Officer Joon’s car blocks the exit forcing the handler’s car to stop.
Joon Young orders the Lawyer Lee out of the car. Tae Pyung is in the van that is also blocked. Lawyer Lee explains she didn’t realize the police were chasing her. She claims fake police are a common ploy. Lawyer Lee declares she’s the eye witnesses lawyer and secretary.

Joon Young and the other officers turn their attention to the van. As Tae Pyung puts on a fresh shirt, he stares at Joon Young as she circles the van towards the back doors. They lock eyes. Tae Pyung can’t believe it…he can’t see her death.
Joon Young opens the door of the van just as Tae Pyung finishes buttoning his shirt over his muscled chest. He tells her he was abducted to the crime scene. He tells her to arrange a time to talk to him with his lawyer present. He gets back into the van.
Back at the hospital Joon Young learns Tae Pyung is an American citizen. The nurse explains Tae Pyung was wearing a bullet proof vest so the shot in his chest didn’t seriously injure him.

Tae Pyung learns the Butcher was vastly out numbered but still managed to subdue the attack gang. She wonders why Tae Pyung was wearing a bullet proof vest.
Tae Pyung wonders why he can’t see the woman’s death. In a cool scene, when Tae Pyung stares into the mirror he sees himself as an old man. He thinks he can see his own death, why not hers?
The butcher’s mother views her son’s body with Joon Young present. She confirms it is her son. The mother isn’t interested in an autopsy. Joon Young reminds her that when the other son was stabbed 23 times 5 years ago, she requested an autopsy. The old woman says she met a man that told her he can see a person’s death when he looks into their eyes. She says the man is well known in politics and finance. She says that man looked at a picture of her son and told her he’d die of a heart attack. Therefore she doesn’t need an autopsy because she knows her son died of a heart attack.

Teacher Baek tells Tae Pyung to stop dwelling on not being able to see the officer’s death. Tae Pyung asks Teacher Baek if he ever ran into a person whose death he couldn’t see before he went blind. Teacher Baek states it never happened to him.
Flashback…The mother recalls her last conversation with her eldest son. She tells him his future death. He doesn’t believe her. The mother wishes she’d stopped her sons from living the gang life. She urges him to get his heart checked. He tells her he won’t die easily. He smiles. She smiles. He leaves. She cries.
The mother calls Tae Pyung and thanks him for the insights that allowed her to reconnect with her estranged son before his death. She tells Tae Pyung should he ever need her, call. She shares she told the detective the truth and to expect a visit.

Joon Young and the Officer Joon and Boon visit Tae Pyung’s house. Lawyer Lee tells them Tae Pyung will be with them shortly. They admire the nice digs. Teacher Baek enters, refuses to answer his relationship to Tae Pyung and leaves.
Tae Pyung tells Joon Young the old woman’s story isn’t true. He explains he was abducted. He claims he always wears a bulletproof vest. He explains the war movie
Taught him he needed to wear one. He’s quite dramatic. Joon Young thanks him for his cooperation and leaves. Tae Pyung sighs in relief.

Lawyer Lee worries this isn’t over. Tae Pyung says it is better to be considered crazy than gifted with that particular ability. Lawyer Lee shows him the photo the officers left. Tae Pyung stares at the photo and is shaken.
Officer Joon and Bong ask Joon Young which victim she brought a photo of. Joon Young won’t divulge that. She’s not sure that Tae Pyung doesn’t have the gift. She knows if he figures out the victim’s death, he has the gift.
A reporter tries to pump the officer for info but Joon Young brushes him off. She asks for the autopsy report. She’s not happy to learn the slow coroner has the body. She calls Coroner Goo Do Kyung (Im Joo Hwan) to request he speed it up. He’s unmoved and hangs up.

Tae Pyung gives his statement to Team Leader Han. He signs the statement. Joon Young enters and notices he’s got the picture he left. He returns the photo to her. He says he doesn’t expect to see her again. He walks away. Joon Young goes after him. She asks him if he looked at the photo. He confirms but says nothing else. He walks way. This time she lets him go.
Team Leader Han says that Tae Pyung’s ability can be true. Joon Young argues that Tae Pyung’s abduction makes no sense. She points out that Lawyer Lee showing up to the hospital so quickly believing Tae Pyung had a gunshot wound is suspicious.
Flashback…Tae Pyung recalls looking at Officer Bong’s eyes when he arrives. He looks at Officer Joon’s eyes too. Then he looks at to Team Leader Han’s eyes.

The reporters wonder why Joon Young won’t tell them anything. His boss Captain Lee realizes that Joon Young’s father was a detective and that Joon Young was active with a big case at 10 years old. He decides to send one of their interns to snoop at the police station.
The young reporter Yi Ji is caught by Officer Bong. Joon Young and Officer Joon tell her that snooping in files isn’t a wise move. She’s forced to tell Captain Lee Jun Hee she got nothing. He tells her to try again.
Captain Lee takes a call from his wife. He’s forced to apologize for forgetting her birthday and being late to dinner. She tells him to call their daughter. Their daughter Mi Jin picks out a cake for her mother’s birthday. As she walks home, she sees Tae Pyung who is sitting in an eatery looking out to the street. He sees her death.

Death moment…Joon Young opens a coffin lid and finds Mi Jin barely breathing. She attempts CPR but its no good. Officer Bong and Officer Joon pull her away from the body. Joon Young cries out Mi Jin’s name.
Captain Lee and the reporter tell the others about the serial killer, Jo Pil Doo, that killed eight people over a decade ago. Joon Young’s father was the detective in charge. He was killed trying to arrest Jo Pil Doo.
