Korean Drama Qiangwei

Though this drama can be a little predictable at some points, I must say they paced it very well and it’s definitely a well thought out drama that had a game plan from the start. It wasn’t a ten episode plan and wing the rest depending on ratings, kind of thing. Everything was tied together very cohesively. Every main role and immediate supporting role was important to the main plot, there were no extra characters that were there just for the sake of it. I love the mix of romance and crime with Lawrence Liu 劉書宏’s humor as Tie Bu Fan. This was the first drama I had seen with Yen Tsao 曹晏豪. He made a very convincing genius Wang Qiang Da.

If you haven’t seen it yet, this drama is a mystery and romance drama featuring two very different characters who are unknowingly connected by their pasts. Wang Qiang Wei (Amanda Chou 周曉涵) is a history tutor and an antique appraiser while Wang Qiang Da is a popular but cold, genius mathematician and teacher that ends up tutoring in the same place as Qiang Wei. It’s a really fun drama that is engaging yet simple.

Switch

Qiang Da is a really awesome character. While he’s  distant and comes off cold with a savage mouth, through his actions and expressions you are able to see his warmth and subtle kindness to others. He can be sentimental but it doesn’t derail him from his goals. He is focused and always has a steady head until Wang Qiang Wei  comes stumbling into his life.

San Ji Qiang Wei Zhi Lian

I’ve been watching Amanda Chou’s dramas for years although she was usually a supporting role. It’s been nice to see her play the main role as Wang Qiang Wei. Qiang Wei is kind and bubbly but not naive and actually very sharp except when it comes to recognizing Bu Fan’s advances. Bu Fan kind of shoots himself in the foot. He goofs around so much Qiang Wei can never take his confessions seriously.

Qiang Da and Qiang Wei are an adorable couple. They have just the right chemistry from the get go. It’s cute to see Qiang Da go from thinking Qiang Wei as the most annoying person (aside from Bu Fan) to becoming increasingly interested and attracted it to her the more he learned about her. His nonchalant genius personality makes a really nice contrast to her cheerful self. What I really enjoyed about this drama was the lack of conspiracy against the main couple. The people tied to the robbery were causing most of the problems in their investigation but Qiang Da and Qiang Wei were able to develop a relationship without too many obstacles. While Guan Jing Jing (Alina Zhang鄭茵聲) was a temporary villain that wanted Qiang Da for herself, her actions weren’t the worst and actually pushed Qiang Wei to be more assertive with Qiang Da. Before she could do any real damage, she was murdered without any fuss.

So what do I mean by predictable? From the get go, the minute you realize that Uncle Lin is old partners with Qiang Da’s dad, you know he had something to do with his dad’s sudden death and the big robbery and arson case that also killed Qiang Wei’s family. After Lian Si De’s ( Peace Yang 陽靚) father has increasingly more lines and scenes paired with his violent and aggressive personality, you know he’s also tied to the robbery.

Basically if you tried to plot the drama in your head, it seems like there’s no way for Uncle Lin to live in the end that would make a cohesive story. If he were to go to jail, that’d be a little anticlimactic. Despite knowing this, I had a small hope in me that wondered if the writers would find a genius way to keep him alive and still have a good story. Alas, they killed him off in a few easy way in the last episode. It was almost too obvious that they did it because they couldn’t figure out any other plausible fates for him.My winter break from school is coming to an end, so I’m wrapping up some dramas before I get back to studying. As I surfed the streaming sites, Lion Pride caught my eye. I decided to give it a try even though I’m not usually a big fan of Taiwanese dramas. Keep reading to find out if you need to put this drama on your list.

Two teachers hold polar opposite viewpoints about teaching and life. Wang Qiang Da (Yen Tsao) is a math teacher who approaches everything in front of him with logic and reasoning. Wang Qiang Wei (Amanda Chou) is a history teacher at the same tutoring center who cares about the love of learning and making people happy around her.

First

, they must work together to get to the bottom of what happened. What will they discover about themselves in the process?

Qiang Wei De Zhan Zheng

This is where this story really surprised me. The plot is actually pretty tight. Our hero and heroine have tragic pasts that are entwined in more ways than one. We follow a natural progression where they discover clues about a crime from several years ago and how they are related to the crime. The romance is also a real treat as we see these two go from antagonists to friends to lovers.

Wang Qiang Wei is a strong female character. She’s a go-getter who knows what she wants and grabs it. She’s an expert with antiques and a history teacher, so she’s also smart. She’s had a tragic childhood, but that hasn’t made her jaded. I love how open and honest she is. I also enjoyed this actress as the quirky flight attendant cousin in

Qiang

Wang Qiang Da is a genius math teacher who sees everything as a math equation. He’s the typical male lead who is so smart that he’s awkward with real-life relationships. Don’t give up on him though, because he’s a rare gem who is able to actually feel emotions.

Switch Of Fate (2016)

Yes, I’m not finished with the drama, but I don’t think it will go off the rails. I’ve enjoyed the progression of the plot and the little side plots too. I’ll come back and let y’all know if it crashes and burns. In the meantime, tell me what you think, are you enjoyingThe son of the famous doctor Gu Feng in Qingyuantang pharmacy was accidentally drowned and Gu Feng’s mother blamed his death on their butler, Fang Cheng. Fang Cheng felt grudged, as his bastard Qiang Wei with his mistress named He Xiu has nowhere to foster her. He secretly substituted his daughter for Gu Feng’s daughter Ren Dong who was once fostered elsewhere. Qiang Wei was brought to Gu family and raised up in a well-off environment, while Ren Dong was raised by He Xiu in a poor family. After they grew up, Ren Dong accidentally got a job in Qingyuantang pharmacy and met with Han Chong, who suffered many hardships in his life. Her optimistic nature and medical talent had soon made her popular in the pharmacy. Even Zheng Ding, the boy that Ren Dong had a crush on for many years, was well affected by her. After Fang Cheng found out that Ren Dong was the real daughter of Gu Feng, he took actions to frame her and instigated Gu Feng’s mother to purposely make difficulties for her. After Qiang Wei found out her real identity, she also strived to prevent Ren Dong from returning to her family at all costs. With the help of Han Chong and Zheng Ding, Ren Dong made unremitting efforts to overcome all the difficulties and troubles to become a renowned doctor. Fang Cheng’s evil conduct was finally exposed and got punishment and Ren Dong ultimately reunited with her family. Edit Translation

I saw clips of this drama on FB. I thought it was one of those Asian PSA type of commercials, but now it was a whole clip of how Rendong (One of our FL)'s family treats her like shit. No, idea why I chose to look up this drama and keep watching but I was really interested in the ending once I started. Of course, I don't see any spoilers or reviews online for this drama either.

YESASIA:

She's spoiled, and has a bad attitude. It's what turns a lot of her close friends/family away from her. This drama follows the two girls and on they deal with and discover their true identities.
