There were quite a number of Korean eating places in Bukit Timah area and Ming Jia is one of them which served true blue Korean food. Tucked away at one far end of Bukit Timah Plaza, Ming Jia stall is manned by a Korean lady together with 3 other helpers.
There was a communication gap between the Korean Auntie when I tried ordering the dishes, luckily one of the helpers who seemed to be a local helped me on my orders. Ming Jia Korean Food is divided into two section, one will be the kitchen and a few tables and the unit directly opposite are a shop space catered for dining.
The korean Lady helmed the kitchen and was really quick on the orders. Tofu Seafood Set was served within 5 minutes with a side of our choice.
Koryo Jeong Korean Restaurant 고려정
Set Meal is pretty authentic whereby the food were served in traditional stone pot and stainless steel cutleries were used. Tofu soup was super tasty with ingredients like, baby shrimps, yellow onions, squid, tofu, needle mushrooms etc.
The spicy toufu as side was kept in the fridge for sometime and was rather cooling. Spicy level was very low and taste was rather standard like any other typical korean eating places.
Due to that Ming Jia is nearing to end business day, the amount of seafood they had was running out. Therefore the ingredients maybe a little lesser over here. There are two Koreans Pancake to choose from, the tradtional Kimchi Pancake or seafood pancake. Amazed by her speed of serving, the Korean Lady had fixed our hungry stomachs in a faster way (we are late for dinner), luckily. Pancake was not too oily and was crispy at the edge.
Ming Jia Korean Food (bukit Timah Plaza)
The sizzling stone pot dish me at tastebuds. The sweet savoury broth together with thin slices of pork was insatiable. Vermicelli, pork and onions were used. Yummy!
The only pet peeve I had over in Ming Jia Korean Food was that we were never able to enjoy a full Korean meal as the type of rice use was similar to what we have been eating daily (Thai Rice) instead of the usual Korean rice. Other than that, all things were well in place. There are Korean Barbecue restaurants in the Tanjong Pagar stretch, but Bukit Timah is also where you can head to for authentic Korean food.
I was introduced by quite a number of K-food lovin’ friends to Go! K-BBQ which has two outlets – at Amoy Street and Bukit Timah Plaza.
The Traveling Hungryboy: Myung Ga (ming Jia) Ii Korean Bbq At Bukit Timah Plaza
Take Exit C – to Jalan Jurong Kechil of Beauty DT5 World MRT; Go! K-BBQ at Bukit Timah Plaza is a 7-minute walk away.
Beyond that, it offers a selection of authentic Korean fare and side dishes, from Green Onion Pancake with seafood ($20), Kimchi Pancake with Beef ($20), Bibimbap ($14), Japchae ($16), Kimchi Stew with Pork ($30, $3 for extra noodles), Braised Angus Beef Ribs ($65), to Spicy Baby Octopus & Pork Belly ($28, $38).
Complement your BBQ with a hearty Boo Dae Ji Gae (Army Stew) ($35), Gal Bi Tang (Beef Rib Soup with Ginseng) ($18) good-for-sharing, and an extra-crispy Handmade Pork Donkatsu ($16).

For 15 days, the meats are refrigerated without packing at low temperatures. This allows the meat to develop its own unique flavour and makes it extra tender.
Explore these aged meats and taste how tender they are: Jin Gal Bit Sal (Aged Boneless Beef Short Ribs) ($34/150g) and Sam Gyeop Sal (Aged Black Pork Belly) ($24/150g).
The Gyeop Dae Gi (Holic Pork Skin) ($18/200g) cooked on the flat iron may be eaten on its own or paired with some in-house sauces.

They do have an interesting rule of “first order must be two servings of the same item” – which I am not the biggest fan of.
I guess this is good for the restaurant so that customers do not under-order, but it does limit those who want to try a variety of meat, especially if you come in a pair or small group.
The good thing is: they mention “let the experts handle grilling your meat” as the staff would know the best timing for the barbecuing, and there won’t be under or over-cooking.
Singapore 👌best Korean Barbecue👍: 1 Day Itinerary & T
If you love deeper, more richer flavours in your meat, then go for this as the aging helps bring out the intensity of the ‘meatiness’, and also cause the textures to be more tender without being overly fatty.

We were at Bukit Timah Plaza and wondering what to eat. There’s only 13 places to eat in this place, (counted from the mall directory) and most of it is closed for dinner.
The Ultimate Best Korean Food Guide In Singapore
We saw a shop lot that has the sign board Ming Jia Korean Food. We walked nearer and saw that there’s people eating here. We thought why not? Let’s try it.
If you watch Korean dramas, this place looks like those little shops, where in the dramas people come in for a quick and cheap meal. (not restaurant looking, but more street side stall look) We saw that the lady boss is Korean too. We know she’s Korean because when she speaks she sounded like how the speak in Korean dramas. (i.e. when you turn on the Dual Sound mode on TV, switch to the Korean mode and listen to the actors and actresses begin to speak English.) We were getting excited. (LOL… like mad Korean drama fans)
It does not come in hot stone plates like in other fanciful restaurants. It comes in a steel bowl, just like how they eat at home in Korean dramas. (You know in the dramas they will always mix their rice in steel bowls and always say how delicious it is. LOL)
The Best Places To Eat And Drink At Bukit Timah Plaza
Looks plain right? But surprisingly it taste good. It comes with a bowl of seaweed soup too. Sis loves the soup that taste like how mum cooks it. The egg is only fried when we ordered the rice too.
Looks so instant noodles right? But it is kinda addictive. The more you eat it, the more you like it. Think its the sauce. 😉
It comes with a small saucer of Kimchi. It’s definitely made there, because when we were there, the Korean lady was mixing the Kimchi in a huge container. I guess it’s for either tomorrow’s or day after’s. The one I had was taken from the fridge. Nice and cold. Yums. This kimchi goes well with the noodles. Makes it more addictive!
Zzang Korean Food, Singapur
Sis said, we shall come back again to try other things on the menu. The meals taste very homely and it is cheap too. Two persons meal for less than $10. Anyone been here and can recommend what is good here so we can try next time?
OK. Just found a newspaper article that has this place mentioned. Upper Bukit Timah Road is a mini Koreatown. There’s 4 korean outlets in this area, plus a Korean Supermarket too.I don’t travel to Bukit Timah that often but when I do, it’s usually for lunch at 名家 (Ming Jia) 명가 II Korean BBQ or brunch at Atlas Coffeehouse. Tucked away in Bukit Timah Plaza, Myung Ga II Korean BBQ is a family-style Korean restaurant that’s very busy during peak hours. Most of the diners are usually Korean.
I think the main reason why the restaurant is so popular is because the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant doesn’t just serve babe dishes, but hearty and authentic Korean fare too. I really enjoy the cooked food, so I haven’t tried the BBQ yet.
Woori Nara Korean Restaurant @ Lorong Kilat, Upper Bukit Timah
We were first served 4 sides – kimchi, seaweed, tamago and ikan billis. The sides are freeflow and I loved the tamago and kimchi.
Addictive and delicious, the Jeyuk Bokkeum (Korean Spicy Pork Stir fry) is served with a bowl of rice. The meat is marinated in a sauce similar to bulgogi but
