Aaaaaand we’ve finally reached the end of this long and ardous road of craziness, along which we mostly rolled our eyes at the sheer absurdity of it, and relieved that the torture is over. It may not be always such a bad ride throughout, but I’m sure most, if not all of us here will say “Good riddance!” to King’s Family. To its credit, we do get some memorable characters (it’d be Grandma and her “eh hyo hyo hyo” for me), not to mention the crazy names of several of the characters (explanation given by javabeans here). The viewership ratings shot back by almost 10 points for this last episode, falling a few points short of 50%, which was what was hoped for but alas, it is not to be (in the previous recap, dijerusli commented that she [I assume you’re a female!] thinks the ratings for Ep49 is 49%, according to some entertainment bites programe she saw on KBSWorld. I’ve checked with fellow Soompiers and the ratings for Ep49 is indeed less than 40%. Hope this clear up things).
Aunt and Miho are aboard the bus for their destination somewhere beyond Seoul, and the next we know, Min Joong is chasing them down after his meeting with Daddy Choi. What’s a Kdrama without some highway chase AND dangerous driving, is apparently what the writer thinks, because Min Joong revvs up and pulls to a stop RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BUS, forcing to bus to halt. Please excuse me while I swear at Min Joong. Anyway, Aunt alights with Min Joong when he boards to look for them, and tells him she’ll not return with him. He asks her why did she not tell him about Miho’s parentage, and she says she wanted to present a very special and precious gift to the person whom she wants to give it to, but there’s no chance for her to do so. She continues to tell Min Joong she’ll look for him when Miho is about to get married, so that he can give her away at the altar when it’s her wedding. With that, Aunt apologizes to the bus driver and tells him to drive away. Well, serves you right, Min Joong.
Se Dal and Sang Nam apparently brought Suspicious Ex to some unmanned construction site, and threatens Suspicious Ex. This whole house deed issue is resolved with lots of drama-luck involved, because the Wangs are lucky enough to not have the house auctioned off YET, which allows the son-in-laws to retrieve it back from the court house. Whatever.
The Golden Spoon
Dad comes home to find Ae Ji sleeping in one of the rooms, and he asks Mom what happened. Dad doesn’t believe what Mom said is the truth, but is interrupted by shouts from the son-in-laws. Everyone’s happy that their house is found.
Gwang-bak is still angry over Sang Nam’s behavior at the airport, and when he comes back home she’s ready to rip into him for brushing her aside and going after some random hot babe (or so she thinks). He goes along with her in good humor, though he’s dying to see the sketches she’d done for him. Just then Mom gives Gwang-bak a call about the reclaimed house, and all anger dissipated. Gwang-bak is just so silly I can’t even.
The following day, all the available Wangs help out in the moving, and refurnish the house in no time. Everyone sits down for some snacks/fruits after everything, and Mom asks Ho-bak and Se Dal to try for another child ASAP, and she’ll help to look after this time round. Ho-bak then tells everyone how she intended to take revenge on Se Dal for his affair, but ends up accepting him after they changed their dynamics, and that’s how a married couple works. It sounds like propaganda. The topic then changes to Mdm Park, as Mom says she feels sorry for those without a partner in their old age, and asks Se Dal to give in to his Mom. Of course he’s an idiot in that and insists she’s fine because she has her children. Once home, Ho-bak admits she knows about his fear, and coaxes him to let it go and let Mdm Park pursue her happiness.
Dramafocal: Wangs Family: Korean Drama
Mom asks Soo-bak if Min Joong has contacted her, and this pair is back to gnawing their teeth at Min Joong who had been, in their terms, “seduced by that woman”. I give up on them.
Young Dal and Uncle Don continues to be lovey-dovey, as she tells him she’s extremely happy to have just a room for themselves, and she no longer wishes to have a huge house or have lots of money. Aww. Young Dal is the character who grow on me throughout the series and is actually
So Aunt has apparently moved to some fishing village/harbor, and rejects Min Joong’s calls when he called. Meanwhile Daddy Choi and Gwang-bak suddenly become best friends as he drops by the cafe which he bought for her to man.
Must Watch Chinese Dramas To Binge On Netflix Right Now
Daddy Choi then goes to meet Se Dal at YET another Drop Top cafe (the one with two storeys), where he hands Se Dal all kinds of certificates and even health checkup. Se Dal tells him to wait for his notification (seriously, this drama treats every marriage that happened on screen as some application of sorts), and Daddy Choi voices that he finds Se Dal familiar. They begin a a round of “Could it be from…?” before recalling correctly it was at Gwang-bak’s wedding that they’ve briefly met.
Se Dal heads for Mdm Park’s store, and asks for a set of skincare products “to give new Dad”. Mdm Park does a double take, and is rejoiced when Se Dal has accepted Daddy Choi. And so we get a slo-mo running-towards-each-other scene for this elder couple as they bask in their happiness. Before we know it, both families have an official meeting, though we know they’re already an extended family, all of them. The only non-cliche plot point about this scene is everyone agrees that it’s too much of a hassle to reorganize the family tree/salutations/ranks/whathaveyou, since the sisters will also be step-sister-in-laws, while the son-in-laws will become step-brothers, AND WHAT NOT.
Min Joong spams Aunt’s message inbox, and they both spend a sleepless night by the river/sea respectively. He even leaves a voicemail, begging Aunt to forgive him and pleads to meet, but it only makes Aunt even more upset, and she throws both the butterfly hairclip he gave her previously AND her handphone into the sea. Whoa.
Legend Of Fei Episode Summary
It’s the opening day of Uncle Don’s pizzeria, and basically everyone who’s related to the Wangs turn up. Despite exchanging barbed words, the tension between Mdm Park and Mom has eased pretty much, because it’s the last episode and no one’s supposed to have any more hatred.
It’s also the day before Hye-bak leaves for her studies, and all the married daughters return to accompany Mom. Soo-bak does a parody of Miss Korea pageant, while Ho-bak roleplays being a journalist (oh the meta) and mock-interviews Mom about life. Dae-bak is so conspicuously missing it’s as if he’s not Mom’s child, but whatever.
Min Joong continues to spam Aunt’s voicemail/message inbox to no avail, and goes to Daddy Choi in an attempt to find out where Aunt is. Daddy Choi tells him off, and goes look for Aunt himself instead. She tells Daddy Choi not to tell Min Joong her whereabouts, and insists that her fate with Min Joong is over. Daddy Choi asks if she’s told Miho that Min Joong is her Dad, and calls Aunt cruel when she tells him she hasn’t.
What A Sushi Dreams About — The Untamed
Min Joong is drinking by himself, and it turns out that he’s asked Soo-bak out. She has nothing but nasty words for him, assuming that he’s living a good life with Aunt now. He comes clean with her that Aunt has left, the day Ae Ji left for home on her own, and Aunt had never mistreated Ae Ji, as well as how Aunt kept it a secret from him about Miho’s parentage all the while. He also admits to her that he failed to consider Miho’s feelings, only putting Ae Ji’s first. Soo-bak is lost for words, and can only give Min Joong a comforting (?) hug as he wails by a lamppost (post-drinking). She goes home, and has that deep in thought look as she ponders over what Min Joong said.
The next we know, Min Joong and Miho are running towards each other in front of some lighthouse in the day. He asks to hold her hand and to hug her, and is seen by Aunt who comes to look for Miho. The scene then cuts as abruptly as it began to Soo-bak serving a customer at her workplace (selling branded bags), and calls Ae Ji, telling her it’s payday, and of course she’ll buy presents over for her, so “wait for Mom with Dad”. She shops from dolls, and goes to Min Joong’s, AND GREETS AUNT AND MIHO AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. Wut
