Korean Dog Rescue Vancouver

Korean K9 Rescue is a volunteer-driven No-Kill dog rescue organization based in Queens, New York. As a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we transport homeless and mistreated dogs from South Korea and place them with loving forever families, primarily in New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles. Because of an unfortunate stigma surrounding mixed-breed dogs–and the dog meat trade that persists within the country–many dogs in South Korea are unlikely to be adopted at home and are in grave danger of being euthanized.

We believe that all dogs should be happy and free. With our partners in Korea, we are stepping in to help at-risk dogs live healthy, happy, long lives. Please join us in our mission!

Our dogs are primarily adopted to homes in and around New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles. On a case-by-case basis, we consider placing homes within:

If you’re considering adding a new member to your family, adopting one of these dogs can make an epic difference — and it’s easier than you might think!

Jindo Love Rescueis an organization devoted to rescuing dogs from the meat trade and finding them forever homes in the U.S. and Canada. The organization rescues dogs directly from the meat trade. Furthermore, they also pull dogs from local shelters and puppy mills, which have appallingly become a source for butchers.

Dogs saved from the meat trade are survivors of horrific abuse who narrowly avoided torture, and to adopt one is an indescribable experience, explains Patti Kim, President of Jindo Love Rescue. While all rescued dogs’ lives are precious, for these dogs, international adoption is often the only hope they have at escaping the evil dog meat trade. Sadly, they don’t have local dog placement rescues on their side.

Korean Dogs — Rescue Me Georgia

While Korean Jindos are the dog breed most associated with this cruel trade, they aren’t the only breed being rescued. Jindo Love Rescue hasdogs available for adoption who come in a variety of ages and sizes.

A lot of people want to know about specific breeds, but because these dogs are rescues and their histories are largely unknown, breeds are a best guess without doing a DNA test.

Once you’ve gotten in touch with Jindo Love Rescue about a dog you’re interested in, you’ll have an interview to answer some basic questions about your experience with dogs, your household, and your lifestyle. You will also be asked about how you plan on handling unexpected situations that may arise. For example, having a baby or dealing with a serious illness.

During the interview, you’ll also be able (and encouraged) to ask as many questions as you want about the dog you’re interested in.

You’ll also be able to see photos and videos of the dog you’re interested in to learn more about their temperament and personality traits. Furthermore, you’ll be advised about any health issues that are being treated.

After the interview, you’ll need to provide two references that will be checked and you’ll fill out a formal application. Once these steps are finalized, you’ll pay an adoption fee, which helps offset costs for care and transport.

Adopt Korean Rescue

Once everything is finalized, Jindo Love Rescue will find someone to fly your newest family member stateside. It may take a bit of time for some dogs, since they’re flying withtravelers who volunteer to act as couriers. However, your new family member could be on a plane in as little as a week.

Once everything’s settled, it’s just a matter of waiting for your new family member to arrive. To help you get ready, Jindo Love Rescue will give you a list of supplies to bring with you when you pick them up at the airport. Someone from the organization will also be available to chat with you that day in case you have any last-minute questions.

These dogs have been through a lot. Some adjust quickly to their new lives, but others may take more time and need some extra help and training. Rest assured, someone from Jindo Love Rescue will always be available to answer questions and offer help and advice with any issues that may arise.

Adopters are also invited to join a group which encourages everyone to share stories and experiences about their dog’s adoption journey. In the end, you won’t just be getting a new family member, you’ll be gaining the support of a whole new community.

Heather Pastore, Vice President of Jindo Love Rescue, explained that helping dogs find homes and simultaneously continuing to spread awareness about the dog meat trade through the organization is a win-win situation for everyone.

All the 5-month-old puppy had ever known was her kennel at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, the shelter’s fenced yard and before that, a Korean dog meat farm.

Loved At Last Dog Rescue

Eventually, adoptions counselor Shayla Saldano scooped up the pup to bathe her before handing her off to her new family. Seoul — named after South Korea’s capital city — is the first of 25 dogs at the shelter to get adopted after being rescued from South Korea in August.

On Saturday, Autumn and Jeff, who asked that their last names not be used, got instructions on how to care for their new family member.

Jeff, who works at Waste Connections, heard about the Korean rescue dogs during the Humane Society’s annual auction. After meeting Seoul and realizing the challenge they would be taking on, the Vancouver couple thoroughly researched the breed before making their decision.

The Jindo, which looks similar to the Shiba Inu or Akita, is known for being particularly protective, intelligent, easy to house train and a thorough self-groomer. Autumn works three days a week, giving her time to oversee Seoul’s health and development.

“We’ve been dog shopping the last two days, ” she said. They picked out all the necessities, along with Huskies and Seahawks jerseys for the dog.

Autumn recently bought a new car, a small SUV, with dog ownership in mind. Seoul eagerly accepted affection as she was coaxed into the back of the SUV. She used to not let anybody touch her.
