Which gained a lot of popularity. I’m sure many people were more intrigued and drawn to this drama considering EXO’s very own leader, Suho was starring in it, but I think the writer was also an added bonus! Curious to see what I thought about part 1 of this 3 part series? Keep reading to find out.
This drama really does start off with a bang. Within the first 5 minutes of the drama, you have the female lead, Byul Yi (Ji Woo) die tragically in a car accident. This leads to her becoming one of many grim reapers. We learn that Byul Yi is a hardcore fangirl who is head over heels in love with Woo Joo (Suho) the famous singer. She spends her days as the grim reaper continuing to fangirl over Woo Joo and even attends his shows and concerts when she can. This is all very cute and hilarious considering the fact that she’s dead!
The story continues and we begin to learn more about Woo Joo’s personal life. He’s not quite as popular as he used to be and is struggling to make a hit song to gain his popularity back. He’s bitter, negative, and seems to lack the charm that many superstars have. Needless to say, Woo Joo becomes depressed and even thinks about suicide.
You Are My Universe Episode 14
Byul Yi finds out from her grim reaper boss that Woo Joo only has a small amount of time left on earth. Devastated, Byul Yi makes it her mission to keep Woo Joo alive as long as possible. As she meets the disapproval of her co-workers, they decide to give her a chance and send her back to earth, instead of continuing to expose herself as a grim reaper.
Upon returning to earth, Byul Yi is given only a certain amount of time to keep Woo Joo alive and if she manages to succeed before the first snowfall, Woo Joo will remain on earth. In an attempt to protect him, Byul Yi follows Woo Joo around, but he starts to get creeped out and mistakes her for being a hardcore stalker. When she pleads with him that she needs to be around him to keep him alive, he decides to give her a chance and in the process, he decides to use her in order to gain some inspiration to make a hit song. They begin to go on some dates and decide to continue meeting each other. This leads to some genuine feelings as the two get to know each other and realize that they need each other more than they thought.
If you’re looking for something to fill the void in your heart and soul that was previously occupied by tvN’s Goblin, then I totally suggest this drama. It’s got the same kind of dark, eerie, but heart-warming feel about it that will resonate with those who loved the Goblin storyline. It’s by no means as good, but it does help with the withdrawal that some of you may be feeling.
The Biggest Surprises: 6 K Dramas That Are Modern And Historical Mash Ups
I admit, when I first saw the trailer for this drama, Iwasn’t completely sold. I’m a fan of EXO, but not enough to watch every drama any of the members are in. It really wasn’t until I learned that Kim Ji Won was the writer that I even had the remote desire to watch it. I love how she combines supernatural aspects to her dramas – and I’m not evenone to like this type of stuff! But, I knew if her writing was anything similar to that of “Splash Splash Love, ” then I was in for a treat. And what a treat it was. This drama seriously came out of a left field as I had no expectations for it. I love it when I genuinely fall in love with a drama and I have to say, most of this is owed to the script and also the main lead.
I really did not expect him to be this good-looking, nor this good of an actor. He really did surprise me, especially the scene in towards the end of the first episode where he says, “I want to die.” He really sold his character and made me almost believe what he was saying to be true. Although I don’t know much about Suho, I do know that he’s generally a pretty happy idol, which is probably why this role took me by surprise. Needless to say, I was impressed with his portrayal of Woo Joo and he made a fan out of me.
I don’t know what it is about dramas with a tortured soul as the male lead, but I love it and it looks good on Suho. He plays this character effortlessly and it took me a minute to realize that I was indeed becoming a fan. It’s a bit diffiult for me to become a fan of a K-pop idol turned actor mainly because I can only really picture them singing, dancing, and rapping on stage, so when they come into a role in a movie or drama, it’s hard for me to shake that idol image. Nevertheless, Suho did a great job and I’m looking forward to seeing him in more dramas in the future.
Alternate Love: 8 Futuristic K Dramas With A Romantic Twist
I never knew or heard of Ji Woo until this drama. I have to admit, her oversized glasses and short black hair was adorable and her acting was pretty good, too! I had nothing much to compare it to, but I couldn’t help but be drawn into her character and charm. She did a great job of being a love-stricken fan girl.
The one thing I felt that was lacking in this drama was the chemistry between Ji Woo and Suho. Although I thought they made a cute couple in pictures, I wasn’t totally sold on the whole loving each other aspect. Which was a total bummer because the ending was beautiful and I really wanted to believe that they loved each other. This aspect has nothing to do with their individual performances because I thought they were great. I just didn’t see fireworks.
This drama is completely worth the watch. I admit there were a couple moments where things got a bit cheesy, but overall, it’s my kinda story. If you’re looking for a drama that resonates “Goblin” and has the similar dark, but cute elements to it, then you’ll like this one. It’s also really short – 6 episodes that are 30 minutes in length; the perfect non-committal drama where you don’t have to debate if you should put your life on hold and invest in a drama.
In This Life, The Greatest Star In The Universe
Oh, and you also might fall in love with Suho as Woo Joo. There is a scene in the first episode where he’s playing the piano beside Ji Woo and he nearly knocked the wind out of me (you’ll know what I’m talking about if you watch it) You can call this a warning.
