Where Can I Watch Signal Korean Drama

, we come with a review of one of South Korea’s most popular crime classics starring Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo and Jo Jin Woong.

Has been on our radar for quite a while and it’s great that we can finally write about this, now already a classic, crime k-drama.

Watch

Has a fantastic premise – detectives communicating through time via a walkie-talkie and solving crimes both in the past and the present together? Sign me up. However, the drama’s true highlight is its amazing cast – Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo and Jo Jin Woong really did some pretty great work in this drama and I really got attached to their characters with Jo Jin Woong stealing the spotlight from start to finish.

Had its ups and downs but it remained a very solid watch until the end. More on that in today’s review below.

: Fifteen years ago, a young girl was kidnapped on the way from school, and Park Hae Yeong, who was an elementary school student at that time, witnessed the crime. A few days later, the girl was found dead, and the police were not able to find the culprit. As time went by, Hae Yeong started distrusting the police. Fifteen years later, Hae Yeong is now a police officer and criminal profiler. One day, he finds a walkie-talkie that allows him to get in contact with Detective Lee Jae Han who is in the past. Police officers Hae Yeong, Jae Han, and Cha So Hyun then set out on a journey to solve cold cases.

Starts off in a very interesting way – a detective from the present time, profiler Park Hae Young (Lee Je Hoon) finds a walkie-talkie and finds out that the person on the other side is none other than the missing detective Lee Jae Han (Jo Jin Woong) who is not only in the past but also somehow already knows him even though Hae Young definitely doesn’t know him? Yes, you will definitely be intrigued right from the start to connect the dots and find out what happened in the past and what will happen in the present too. These two characters are also the absolute highlight of the drama in general – you’ll get attached to them easily and root for them to solve the cases and their own mysteries. I started the drama feeling more inclined towards the present day lead Hae Young but the more drama went on the bigger attachment I ended up having with the past day lead Jae Han who seemed clumsy in the beginning but ended up being easily the best character of the drama and the one who pushes the plot the most. It’s funny how we get this friendship and comradery between two characters that haven’t properly met each other. I think that brought quite a unique charm to

Signal (k Drama)

Kim Hye Soo was fantastic as well although her character ended up being a bit all over the place. I loved Cha Soo Hyun in the present time – she was independent, smart, determined and, what made me like her the most in the end, ready to fight for her friends and colleagues if she trusted them no matter what was happening. Soo Hyun in the past was a mixed bag. Her entire personality was somehow being a lost puppy-eyed officer and a lot of times she made decisions that made absolutely no sense to me. She definitely grew a lot to get to the point where she’s strong in the present but her past her was giving me anxiety more often than not. I did love the random plot of her mom trying to set her up for marriage several times and dressing her up in pink because it honestly gave us more insight into her life outside of work and made me chuckle. Also major respect to her for her loyalty to Jae Han.

Ended up being a supporting character of the past – Hae Young’s older brother Park Seon Woo portrayed by SF9’s Chani. Chani quite frankly outshined some of his older cast mates here because he was portraying the falsely accused Seon Woo a bit too well. The only two moments of the drama that honestly made me tear up were regarding to his character and the schemes he got involved into without his will. You’ll spend a good portion of the drama rooting for Seon Woo to make it out of this entire corrupt circus alive and well and you’ll break your own heart more often than not so maybe be aware of that. Wonderful character all around and I really want to see Chani in more major roles because he never disappoints acting wise.

‘s plot was solid. It was interesting that it was split into several cases while simultaneously focusing on the major one that involved the main trio. However, this comes as a mixed bag at times – some of the later cases weren’t that interesting to me (although it’s chilling that they were based on real life crimes) simply because they felt all over the place because of the present-past mix up. But this isn’t that big of a deal break for me as much as the corruption in the police and the schemes these people were up to actually was. My blood was boiling the entire time watching

And I think it gave me way too much anxiety and pent-up frustration and left me in a bad mood a lot of times. Just a heads up if you get easily affected by injustice like me. It was a bit tad too realistic at times and it’s both a good and a bad thing if you understand what I mean,

‘s weakest point was the fact that it did not need 16 episodes at all. Aside from the very last 2 episodes

Spends about 4 episodes completely bringing us flashbacks. If I took a shot every time we got a random flashback we have already seen 10 times before I would’ve been completely drunk and kissing my screen every time Lee Je Hoon was on it. Seriously though, this annoyed me to no end because it was apparent they were just dragging out the story to get to the final episode. On another hand, while a lot of people are asking for season 2 I loved the ending. I thought it was done in a really good way and quite frankly the only proper way to end a time travel/time vortex drama – with a slightly open ending but a hopeful one. All in all, a solid drama although definitely not my favourite one simply because of the dragged out plot and some things that I simply subjectively didn’t like – I gave it a 8.5/10 in the end. I’d still recommend it to everyone who loves this genre, these actors and hasn’t seen the drama yet.
