(Korean: 수상한 파트너 ; RR: Susanghan Pateuneo) is a 2017 South Korean television series starring Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun, with Choi Tae-joon and Kwon Nara. It aired on SBS from May 10 to July 13, 2017, at 22:00 (KST) on Wednesdays and Thursdays for 40 episodes.
The show joyed modest viewership share, but it beat its competitor by topping the important 20-49 year old demographic, as well as streaming, popularity, and brand reputation charts for consecutive weeks.
The series is about Noh Ji-wook (Ji Chang-wook), a prosecutor, and Eun Bong-hee (Nam Ji-hyun), a prosecutor trainee, and how they work together on a mysterious case involving a sly psychopath murderer. They find out how deeply connected they are by their past. A forgetful killer can be a dangerous thing. Noh Ji-wook is a prosecutor who changes jobs to become a private attorney due to circumstances. Eun Bong-hee is a prosecutor trainee under Ji-wook while he was a prosecutor. Attorney Ji Eun-hyuk (Choi Tae-joon) is a longtime family frid of Ji-wook who betrayed Ji-wook by cheating with Ji-wook's ex-girlfrid.

A prosecutor in the Sunho District Prosecutors' Office who ds up switching professions to a private attorney in the aftermath of defding Eun Bong-hee, a defdant in which he was supposed to be her oppont. He harbors a trauma stemming from an evt in his childhood involving his parts and first love. Bong-hee falls for him though he does not initially return the feelings. A lawyer with complicated family relationships who had a particularly harsh adolescce. Once best frids with Ji-wook, he is now despised by him but tries his best to get back to being best frids with Ji-wook. He has a fridly platonic relationship with Bong-hee in which the two support each other with each other's romantic relationships.

Noh Ji-wook's ex-girlfrid who made an unforgivable mistake, sleeping with another man. A prosecutor who tries to win him back no matter what it takes. She harbours romantic feelings for Eun-hyuk which she confuses for fridship. She later becomes frids with Bong-hee and Na Ji-hae.
Ji-wook's adoptive mom. She is a good frid of Ji-wook's real mom and owns a pizza shop. She is also the archemy of Bong-hee's mother.
Bong-hee's mother who loves her daughter. She works at a massage parlor where she befrids Ji-wook's mom and later ds up working for Ji-wook's mom. The two are frequtly indulge in semi-fridly banter.

A victim who was accused of murder which has similar vibe to Bong-hee's case, but has a mysterious idtity that lies in him. He was in fact a serial killer who had earlier, out of revge, murdered five of the six gang-rapists (including the victim of a murder he was accused of and first appeared in the show for) of his high school crush Park So-young, who committed suicide after this incidt. He was also the real culprit who murdered Jang Hee-joon; in fact, his real target was Bong-hee, who unknowingly witnessed him killing two of the rapists but ded up killing Hee-joon, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time wh he tried to make amds with Bong-hee for cheating her. Hyun-soo was evtually stced to life imprisonmt for the murders he committed.
Jang Hee-joon's father and the District Attorney of Sunho District. He believes in upholding the might of the prosecution ev if it meant defaming common people, as shown wh he falsely incriminated Bong-hee's father as the arsonist who caused the fire that killed Ji-wook's parts and also himself, releasing the gang-rapists of Park So-young after dismissing their rape charges on the bribery of the parts and forcing Ji-wook to indict and convict Bong-hee (who was actually innoct) for murdering his son. Upon discovering Hyun-soo's guilt of his son's murder, he tried to kill him unsuccessfully and this led to his downfall as he was dismissed from his post and arrested for attempted murder (and possibly his pre-existing corruption prior to his arrest).

He disappeared before he could meet up with Ji-wook to reveal something related to Hyun-soo, and was confirmed to be murdered by Hyun-soo wh his body was discovered nearing the finale of the series. Four of his five accomplices - Lee Jae-ho, Yang Jin-woo, Kim Min-goo and Sung Jae-hyun - were earlier murdered by Hyun-soo while the final accomplice Min Young-hoon evtually surrdered and wt to jail for the crime around the same time Hyun-soo was indicted the second time and finally stced.Yup, K-drama did it again – they managed to combine a genuinely tense murder mystery with a sweet, silly romance and come up with a result that’s entertaining. Suspicious Partner (SBS 2017) is about two lawyers who fall in love – and at the end of the first episode, one of them is arrested for murder.

There is a clear spark between them but they are both smarting from having been cheated on by long-term partners and are wary of new love. Then Bong-hi’s ex-boyfriend is found dead in her apartment and his father – who happens to be the chief prosecutor – presses Ji-uk hard to charge Bong-hi with murder. It’s an inauspicious start for a romance.
It gradually becomes clear that there is a serial killer at work, and our stars – along with an excellent roster of supporting cast – work together to identify the real culprit. But even once they know who it is, they still need to find enough evidence to make their case in court.

Ji-uk and Bong-hi must work closely with Ji Eun-hyuk (Choi Tae-joon), a lawyer who was Ji-uk’s best friend growing up but at the start of this series they are estranged and Ji-uk is in no rush to mend bridges. The situation is further complicated by prosecutor Cha Yoo-yung (Kwon Nara, who was also in Itaewon Class), who is Ji-uk’s ex-girlfriend. And there’s some beef between Ji-uk’s mother and Bong-hi’s mother, who are both played by familiar comedic actors (Nam Gi-ae, from Oh My Venus and Descendants of the Sun, and Yoon Bok-in).
Overall, the show isn’t bad for gender politics. There are the usual ridiculous coincidences and misunderstandings and lost memories that are miraculously recovered. The chemistry between the leads is fine but not great. Nam Ji-hyun is adorable in a messy, hair-tossing sort of way. Ji Chang-wook is sometimes playful, sometimes cold, but doesn’t quite hit the right note for me. They do both have excellent comic timing.
